For this past weeks trip to the UK, I utilized the 8 day consecutive BritRail Pass to travel without tickets on the UK rail system. The pass for me (being over 25) was 375 dollars but in the long run it saved me nearly double it's value. My trips went as follows: Manchester-Oxford-London-Cambridge-London-Brighton-London-Edinburgh-Manchester. According to the British Rail website, had I bought the tickets before travelling, it would have cost me over 600 dollars. The key to using the consecutive pass is to utilize it's widespead access. If I were mearly staying in the London area, I would have saved money simply buying tickets, but travelling across country is what makes the britrail passes worth it.
